About the Role

The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will lead the implementation, execution, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety management systems. You will serve as a subject matter expert for safe, compliant operational practices and ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ergonomics program within the facility by assessing risk and implementing solutions.
  • Support the plant manager in facilitating community and governmental interaction and external reputation.
  • Support contractor environmental, health, and safety requirements during the construction phase.
  • Help test and evaluate environmental, health, and safety performance during project startup.
  • Partner with regional and country environmental, health, and safety teams to manage site impact assessments, operating permits, and construction permits.
  • Support suitable training content and delivery modes, conduct gap assessments, and deliver training.
  • Partner with key site or project leaders to integrate and operationalize environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Drive a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Integrate company and legally required work processes into site-level operating procedures.
  • Monitor, analyze, and adjust processes for improved performance.
  • Ensure alignment of goals, metrics, and targets with plant vision.
  • Govern site performance targets with the plant and site leadership team.
  • Consult on planning, issue and incident response, and operational environment, health, and safety compliance.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Escalate more complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Availability to work 2nd shift as needed.
  • Legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada.
