About the Role

The San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is seeking a Caregiver to provide assistance to residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and support their overall well-being within a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with ADLs including dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, transferring, and toileting, following community protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Follow safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and universal precautions.
  • Transfer, transport, and escort residents as needed.
  • Follow the schedule of duties and individual resident plans of care, answering call lights promptly.
  • Monitor resident activity, nutritional intake, functional status, and psychosocial status, reporting changes and taking action as required.
  • Act immediately on any resident issues, following protocol and basic first aid training.
  • Document resident status changes, including physical, medication reaction, and psychosocial changes.
  • Perform universal functions such as assisting with enrichment activities and light cleaning of resident apartments.
  • Promote open communication between healthcare professionals, families, residents, and staff.
  • Attend in-service training and education sessions.
  • Perform specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Prior geriatric nursing aide experience, preferred.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and follow instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office or willingness to learn within 90 days.
  • Ability to provide coverage or work overtime when needed.
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, and squatting.
  • May be exposed to blood and body fluids.
  • Must be able to transport residents via wheelchair, Geri chair, or shower chair, pushing up to 150lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to transfer, lift, turn, and position a resident weighing up to 125lbs unassisted, or with assistance for residents over 125lbs.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, stretch, squat, stand, and walk for up to 90% of the workday.
  • May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior.
  • Must be able to reach up to a level of six feet.
  • Must be able to push a dietary cart up to 40lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs frequently and 50lbs occasionally.
  • Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered, pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
