About the Role
Okta's Identity Governance (OIG) organization is seeking a Senior Engineer to develop, design, and maintain our product for enterprise customers. This role involves architecting product features across different access governance personas and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-friendly features. It's an opportunity for someone who excels at systems thinking and building enterprise-grade software.
Responsibilities
- Take end-to-end ownership of feature areas, from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring.
- Design, build, and ship high-quality, production-ready features across the OIG system, focusing on correctness, reliability, and performance.
- Quickly deliver high-quality bug fixes and handle customer-reported issues.
- Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and uphold high engineering quality standards.
- Partner with Product Development, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams for scoping development and deployment work.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated ability to independently own and deliver complex features in a production environment.
- Experience in microservices, event-driven architectures, APIs, and data modeling at scale.
- Solid experience with one or more of: Java, Kotlin, Go, or equivalent JVM/cloud-native languages.
- Practical experience building and operating distributed systems in a cloud environment.
- Ability to produce clear technical designs and documentation, communicate trade-offs effectively, and build consensus.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate and reason about complex, multi-service systems.
- A track record of delivering features with high quality, including meaningful unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative working style.
