About the Role
Higher Technicians are responsible for ensuring Alstom meets contractual requirements for maintenance and operational running, working across the Lotrain and East Anglia projects. This role involves ensuring train systems operate to specifications, investigating and diagnosing faults, and providing technical support for fault rectification.
Responsibilities
- Undertake all required aspects to support Alstom with the TSA of the Fleet
- Technical, vehicle quality and aesthetical fault rectification
- Unit maintenance and preparation
- Fault recording and reporting
- Fault analysis and rectification
- Undertake in-depth fault analysis and system preventative interventions
- Liaise with and provide support to Outstation and ISST roles
- Provide scope of work instructions
- Provide technical support to the depot teams in the provision of fault finding expertise and assistance with train repair activities
- Undertake campaigns for fleet software updates
- Follow and implement tasks in accordance with Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMI’s) and Vehicle Maintenance Procedures (VMP’s)
- Facilitate off site working, working around the network covered by the customer
- Provide on train technical support
- Support customer operational requirements
- Detailed fault reporting and recording on web based and App based systems
- Detects, defines and implements the modifications of the maintained products to improve the reliability and serviceability, in order to reduce project costs and improve the performances of the systems
- Proposes innovative solutions and develops and implements
- Assist with skills development within depots and train care points
- Arrange and undertake test runs to assist in fault finding and resolution of faults, in particular the closeout of repeat failures
- Functionally test train borne systems with minimal supervision using a variety of techniques and methods, including the use of computer based diagnostics systems
- Review and rectify test specifications and documentation for functional tests
- Assist with the validation of documentation issued in support of maintenance and repair activities, special checks, modifications and experiments
- Assist in the validation of Maintenance Schedule amendments and other technical instructions
- Assists with the validation of locally produced technical instructions
- Provide technical support in connection with special checks and experiments
- Liaise with the systems support engineers and specialist engineers as necessary, gathering technical information needed to enable technical problems with trains, procedures, materials or component problems to be resolved
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in an electrical discipline or equivalent
- Previous Experience in rolling stock
- Proven experience in health and safety
- Good IT skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Front-End Databases
- Previous use of various diagnostic systems would be advantageous
- Flexibility and Adaptability. Enjoys variety in work practices, opinions and approaches
- Self-Motivation. Carries out, using own initiative, activities that add value to the job
