About the Role

Join eBay's Global Shipping team to build and lead a team of engineers, supporting millions of customers by developing shipping products worldwide. You will adapt quickly, stay curious, and make an impact on one of the world's largest e-commerce websites.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead one of eBay's Global Shipping teams.
  • Hire new engineers, develop individuals and the team.
  • Plan and enable product delivery in collaboration with product owners and external partners.
  • Balance product delivery with technical improvements and software quality.
  • Advocate and advance agile and engineering practices.
  • Constantly improve product and code quality, and architecture.
  • Build micro-services and migrate legacy applications.
  • Propose new tools and improve processes.
  • Build services that solve hard business problems and complex distributed systems problems at scale.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of leading engineering teams.
  • Experience working on web-scale, distributed systems.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience building massively distributed systems.
  • Experience managing engineering teams of up to 20 engineers and leaders (development and quality).
  • Deep technical understanding to influence and own the technical roadmap for your domain.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and full understanding of operating in a dynamic, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Prior successful experience leading large-scale change management.
  • Proven track record for product delivery.
  • Compelling leadership style with exceptional people management skills.
  • Track record of grooming high-performance teams.
  • Leadership: Running teams, leading discussions, and making decisions.
  • Ability to remove roadblocks and help the team deliver quality products.
  • Mentoring, coaching, and growing people to reach their full potential.
  • Communication: Key partner and interface between engineering, product management, and business.
  • Ability to articulate thought process and translate between engineering and business.
  • Technical Expertise: Led large engineering efforts and projects (greenfield or established stacks).
  • Ability to guide the team to find the best solution.
  • Agility: Help the team innovate further in agility and efficiency.
  • Experience managing tech leads and other engineering managers across different locations and time zones.
  • Collaboration: Bring people from different teams and fields together to lead towards a common goal globally.
