About the Role

Prep Academy Tutors is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide one-on-one tutoring and academic support to students in the Downtown Toronto area. This role involves working closely with students who have diverse learning needs, creating individualized learning strategies to build confidence, independence, and academic success.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized academic support based on student learning profiles, strengths, and needs.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and exceptionalities.
• Develop and implement personalized learning strategies aligned with the Ontario curriculum.
• Provide remedial support, skill-building activities, and enrichment opportunities where appropriate.
• Foster student confidence, engagement, and self-advocacy skills.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and recommendations.
• Maintain professional records of tutoring sessions and student achievements.

Requirements

• Experience working with students with special education needs, learning disabilities, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, or other exceptionalities.
• Energetic, patient, and enthusiastic educators with strong instructional skills.
• Committed to providing exceptional service to students and families.
• Ability to create engaging, individualized learning experiences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for helping students develop both academically and personally.
• Hold registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
• Qualified to teach in a Canadian province or territory outside of Ontario.
• Current teacher candidate pursuing a Bachelor of Education degree.
• Experience as a lecturer or course instructor at an accredited Canadian university or college.
• Special Education Part 1, Part 2, or Specialist Additional Qualification (AQ).
• Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Experience supporting students in elementary and/or secondary school settings.
