About the Role

This director-level leadership position involves developing custom energy conservation and decarbonization solutions for industrial, institutional, and commercial sectors, leveraging expertise in mechanical HVAC systems and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure compliance with health and safety best practices on site.
  • Support the project manager in identifying key risks by subject matter area.
  • Act as a point person to manage change orders and design modifications, liaising with designers and engineers of record.
  • Oversee conceptual design and energy modeling, and detailed engineering performed by third-party engineers of record, ensuring QA/QC for savings, cost, and constructability.
  • Support the Project Manager as a subject matter expert with procurement and implementation of energy conservation measures.
  • Manage and resolve technical challenges on-site using subject matter expertise.
  • Find creative approaches for achieving project energy and cost goals, improving budgets and timelines while mitigating project risks.
  • Evaluate site conditions and develop solutions at project locations.
  • Apply agile practices during project design and implementation, adapting HVAC measures to ensure desired savings outcomes within budget.
  • Act as the primary technical resource for all internal project stakeholders during development and implementation phases.
  • Master all aspects of energy performance measures before committing to implementation.
  • Proactively identify and lead the resolution of technical issues that could delay projects or cause performance issues.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years' experience on project job sites implementing retrofit solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Client-centric approach to collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Skilled in drafting reports, presenting proposals, and communicating directly with stakeholders.
  • Experience with Excel and AutoCAD is a strong asset.
  • Previous or related experience engaging with multiple business/project stakeholders.
  • Expertise in energy efficiency systems and knowledge of the energy market.
  • Valid driver's license.

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or building systems-related field
  • Professional Engineer designation (P. Eng) is a requirement; CET considered dependent on experience
  • PMP certification from PMI (strongly preferred)
  • CEM certification from AEE (strongly preferred)
