About the Role
This is the first Head of People role, responsible for bringing the company's People Vision to life and driving business growth through team engagement, effective hiring, strong management, and retention. The role is high-performance and high-ownership, central to the company's scaling strategy.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute the people strategy across recruitment, onboarding, culture, engagement, performance, development, HR processes, and leadership capability.
- Translate the people vision into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
- Lead hiring and onboarding processes to attract and retain high-caliber talent.
- Develop managers and leaders through training and coaching.
- Oversee performance management, development, and learning initiatives.
- Champion responsible AI adoption within the people function.
- Protect and grow the company culture, focusing on engagement, wellbeing, JEDI, belonging, and celebration.
- Co-own internal communications to ensure team alignment and connection.
- Prioritize employee retention, progression, and fair compensation.
- Manage HR processes, policies, and ensure compliance with employment law.
- Handle employee relations, including grievances, disciplinaries, and exits.
- Line-manage and develop the People team.
Requirements
- Experience growing people functions in a fast-moving, scaling business, ideally within FMCG (challenger/scale-up or high-growth environment).
- Experience building an HR function while operating it, not just inheriting a mature one.
- Strong commercial judgment and understanding of business operations.
- Ability to connect team needs with business needs and make difficult decisions on structure, performance, and investment.
- Seniority and confidence to operate at the leadership team level.
- Proven track record of building strong, high-performing teams.
- Experience raising the bar on management leadership.
- Experience handling performance and sensitive conversations directly, thoughtfully, and with care.
- Strength in core people areas such as talent acquisition, leadership development, performance management, engagement, wellbeing, or JEDI.
- Low ego, approachable, and trustworthy.
- Initiative and a strong external network.
- Ability to bring fresh thinking and anticipate future needs.
- Strong judgment, commercial instinct, warmth, and a bias to action.
- Strong, hands-on experience across core People/HR fundamentals, especially employee relations, performance, and building scalable processes.
