About the Role
Develop and implement a multi-year medical & clinical affairs strategy for APAC EP aligned with global strategy, prioritizing Japan, North Asia and ANZ while ensuring scalable approaches for India and SEA. Lead design and execution of clinical evidence generation to support label, reimbursement and clinical adoption. Build and maintain strategic relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), medical societies, payers, HTA bodies and relevant academic institutions across focus markets. Provides leadership and direction to medical science managers and senior leaders and serves as the liaison for team collaborations and stakeholder engagements.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and execution of clinical evidence generation (post‑marketing studies, investigator-initiated studies, real-world evidence, registries) to support label, reimbursement and clinical adoption.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), medical societies, payers, HTA bodies and relevant academic institutions across focus markets.
- Provides leadership and direction to medical science managers and senior leaders and serves as the liaison for team collaborations and stakeholder engagements in the Japan, North Asia and ANZ Cluster and leverage the same to the rest of ASPAC.
- Defines educational initiatives and industry partnerships on publications and clinical research.
- Advises on organizational standards regarding driving MSL team tactics and ensuring strong clinical engagement in the Japan, North Asia and ANZ Cluster and leverage the same to the rest of ASPAC.
- Communicates medical insights on future research and medical developments to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Maintains collaborative relationships across teams and exchanges scientific information on products and services.
- Oversee regional medical operations: scientific communications, publications, medical education, meetings, MSL deployment and medical review of promotional materials.
- Recruit, coach and develop a high-performing medical team; set objectives, performance metrics and succession plans.
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, local regulations, and company policies; champion ethical engagement and scientific integrity.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD) preferred.
- Advanced scientific degree (PhD, PharmD) with experience in Medical device is preferred.
- 12+ years’ experience in medical affairs, clinical development or related roles within the healthcare/medical device/pharma industry, with progressive leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience across APAC with deep exposure to Japan and ANZ; prior responsibility overseeing India/SEA is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in designing and delivering clinical evidence programs (post‑marketing studies, RWE), successful interactions with KOLs and medical societies, and meaningful support to market access/HTA activities.
- Strong understanding of local regulatory, reimbursement and clinical practice environments in Japan and ANZ; familiarity with Japan-specific requirements is a plus.
- Experience managing cross-cultural teams and matrix stakeholders in complex, multi-country settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Japanese language skills or demonstrated experience working with Japanese stakeholders strongly preferred.
