About the Role

As the Director of Product Design, you will lead the multi-year vision for Shipt's design platform, evolving it from a static component library into an operating system for all product surfaces. You will shape the platform's scale across Customer, Shopper, and Partner experiences, lead a team of systems designers, and collaborate with Engineering to define the operating model, governance, and adoption strategies for the AI era.

Responsibilities

Lead the multi-year vision for the design platform as an operating layer for product teams.
Shape platform scalability across Customer, Shopper, and Partner experiences.
Influence cross-functional leadership in Engineering, Product, and Research.
Lead, mentor, and scale a team of systems designers.
Establish the operating model for building, governing, and adopting the design platform.
Collaborate with Engineering on shared component contracts and pipeline ownership.
Define metrics to connect platform investment to measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

5+ years in product design leadership.
Experience shipping, scaling, and maintaining a multi-platform design system across web and mobile.
Front-end architecture experience with design tokens, components, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and package managers.
Proven autonomy in executing technical governance, schema definitions, and token contracts.
Proficiency with current AI tools.
Direct experience managing and mentoring software systems design teams.
Deep competency in complex systems thinking, data schema architecture, workflow/IA design, and visual infrastructure design.
Strong executive communication skills.
