About the Role
As a Senior Cloud-Native Engineer, you will build and scale critical backend infrastructure for SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), directly impacting how thousands of developers and global businesses create and run their applications. You will transform cloud capabilities by taking ownership of services essential to SAP's strategy.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate highly-available, scalable microservices for the SAP Business Technology Platform.
- Architect and implement the central API gateway, handling massive-scale traffic, security policies, and observability.
- Enhance core Kubernetes infrastructure for a fast, reliable deployment experience.
- Take full ownership of services, from code to deployment, and participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 reliability.
- Elevate team's technical capabilities through mentoring, driving architectural decisions, and establishing best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend or platform engineering.
- Expertise in an object-oriented language like Go (preferred), C++, Java, or Node.js.
- In-depth, hands-on experience with cloud-native paradigms, including container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or similar.
- Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools for distributed systems (Elastic Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace).
- Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Fluent English language skills, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in computer networking concepts, specifically with massive scale of network traffic (beneficial).
