About the Role

The Senior Data Scientist position works out of our Austin, TX location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat heart arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats.

Responsibilities

• Support and lead various data science projects to deliver commercial solutions for the Cardiac Rhythm Management organization.
• Work on complex problems in the field of life-saving implantable medical devices.
• Use machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, data mining, and visualization techniques to provide analytics solutions.
• Develop solutions to curate and analyze large quantities of medical data.
• Work on projects that provide solutions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Present solutions and insights in a concise and effective manner to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop, plan, coordinate, and direct data science projects of medium to advanced complexity and major scope.
• Manage multiple, often concurrent projects and meet expectations.
• Understand medical device business needs and articulate these needs to other stakeholders.
• Assure that data science projects effectively address businesses’ long and short-term business goals.
• Communicate data science results to internal and external audiences, including senior management.
• Prepare and present written and oral reports.
• Adjust presentation style and content to suit the audience.
• Interact well with diverse groups and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
• Listen to and understand others’ points of view and articulate tactfully and respectfully one’s own and others’ perspectives orally, in writing, and in presentations.
• Interface with senior management on significant matters, often requiring the coordination of activity across organizational units.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• In-depth knowledge of contemporary machine learning, pattern recognition and data-mining techniques.
• Apply scientific knowledge on data modeling, data analytics, predictive algorithms, prescriptive algorithms and other data science principles to create concepts, develop prototypes, and generate insights from commercial data
• Analytical skills with a solid foundation in programming (R, SAS, Python, SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL) and data/database design
• Create dashboards and visualizations of commercial data using Power BI to identify trends and provide key business insights to leaders across different teams
• Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
• Master’s degree in quantitative discipline, such as computer science, engineering, data science, bioinformatics, statistics, mathematics, machine learning or related field.
• Proficient in data warehousing, data modeling, ETL and SQL
• Prior experience or working knowledge with one or more of the following tools and technologies: Spark, Clojure, Hive, Pig, Redshift
• Experience with big-data architecture, operating systems, and tools for big-data analytics
• Uses in-depth knowledge of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/ relationships.
• Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
• Has broad knowledge of various technical alternatives and their potential impact on the business.

• $78,000.00 – $156,000.00
