About the Role
FTI Consulting is seeking a Senior Director – Advanced Threat Services to lead and expand its Australian Cybersecurity team. This high-impact consulting leadership role involves managing a high-performing team across offensive security, digital forensics and incident response (DFIR), and security engineering. You will lead complex client engagements, mentor technical consultants, and manage key relationships while providing expert guidance in executive, regulatory, and legal contexts.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage large penetration testing retainers and smaller offensive security engagements.
- Lead major cybersecurity incident response engagements including ransomware, data extortion, and business email compromise.
- Manage security control uplift engagements with a focus on cloud security engineering.
- Oversee technical security engagements from scoping to reporting and presentation.
- Perform quality assurance on fieldwork and reports to ensure consistency and excellence.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients, law firms, and insurance contacts.
- Manage and mentor a team of high-performing technical cybersecurity consultants.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, threats, and emerging methodologies including AI.
- Manage engagement risks to avoid adverse impacts to client environments.
- Contribute to business development material and client proposals.
- Plan and oversee the development of infrastructure and tools supporting service delivery.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in cybersecurity or a related technology discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in professional offensive security or incident response within consulting or complex enterprise environments.
- Previous experience as a senior or lead penetration tester, incident responder, or cyber-focused forensic investigator.
- Strong reporting skills with the ability to present technical analysis to non-technical audiences.
- Experience using or bypassing EDR tools such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, or Carbon Black.
- Experience implementing, assessing, or attacking on-premises and cloud security controls in Microsoft 365 and AWS.
- Ability to manage multiple client matters simultaneously with limited supervision.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills.
- Ability to travel to interstate or client locations as required.
