About the Role
BGIS is seeking a Trades Assistant – Electrical to join a newly established contract supporting one of Australia's busiest transport hubs. Working alongside an Electrical Shift Technician, you'll assist with general building maintenance, preventative works and reactive repairs across a large and dynamic site that operates around the clock. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, working as part of a close-knit team, and helping maintain critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preventative and reactive building maintenance activities.
- Carry out minor repairs to building fabric, fixtures and fittings.
- Support electrical and specialist trades with maintenance works.
- Respond to faults and defects to maintain safe and functional facilities.
- Complete work orders and maintenance records using CMMS systems.
- Follow WHS procedures and site safety requirements.
- Assist with maintaining high presentation standards across the site.
- Work collaboratively with contractors and the wider maintenance team.
Requirements
- Trade qualification in carpentry, building or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in general building maintenance or a similar environment.
- Knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance practices.
- Ability to use work order or maintenance management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Experience in aviation, transport or large public facilities.
- Exposure to electrical maintenance environments.
- ASIC clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Full working rights in Australia.
- Ability to meet site access requirements.
