About the Role

The QA Specialist supports the quality assurance function by ensuring materials, documentation, and manufacturing activities comply with customer requirements, internal procedures, and quality standards. This role assists with quality records, inspection support, vendor and customer documentation, calibration coordination, and quality system activities to maintain compliance, support operations, and promote customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Process daily visual inspections and maintain related quality records.
  • Review and process materials and documentation in accordance with applicable Mil-Spec, Statement of Work (SOW), Source Control Drawing (SCD), customer requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing materials between vendors, customers, and internal teams.
  • Support inventory-related transactions and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  • Provide QA/QC system support to Program Managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Apply applicable quality standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements in day-to-day activities.
  • Support customer satisfaction by following NASAM’s quality manual, procedures, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Generate repair orders for outside services, including DPA, X-ray, re-life, and other required testing or processing.
  • Collect, summarize, and maintain quality data, records, and reports.
  • Review manufacturer data, certifications, and test reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Document quality issues, supplier feedback, and nonconformances, and communicate concerns to appropriate internal or supplier contacts.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area using safety standards and expectations while adhering to all quality practices.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or General Education Degree; or 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One (1) + year(s) of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment highly desired.
  • One (1) + year(s) in a quality assurance role.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal and aerospace materials preferred.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of geometric tolerance.
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic.
  • Must have experience in customer management, contract review and implementation, quality management systems, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) through the utilization and application of Six Sigma tools.
  • Must have knowledge of DCMA regulations, ISO and AS9100 quality standard requirements.
  • Must have experience with the control and disposition of non-conforming material.
  • Must have the ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
  • Ability to stand 6 to 8 hours a day.
  • Ability to work with hands and arms with extreme accuracy.
  • Ability to walk on a regular basis.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Regularly exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts on the production floor.
  • Occasionally exposed to machine oils, metal fillings, acetone, paints, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration.
  • Moderate to loud noise level in the work environment.
