About the Role
JetBrains is seeking a Senior Graphics/JVM Software Engineer with in-depth knowledge of modern hardware-accelerated APIs to join the JetBrains Runtime (JBR) team. This role involves improving IntelliJ-based IDEs by developing new features, participating in OpenJDK projects, and fixing JBR issues, with a focus on providing low-level support for UI frameworks like Swing and Compose for desktop to ensure IDEs run efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Provide low-level support for UI frameworks like Swing and Compose for desktop.
- Develop new features, such as the Java Chromium Embedded Framework.
- Participate in OpenJDK projects, including Lanai and Wakefield.
- Fix JBR issues, with a focus on upstreaming to OpenJDK.
Requirements
- 4+ years of C or C++ programming experience.
- Solid knowledge of Java and JVM internals.
- A deep understanding of OOP.
- Multithreaded programming experience.
- Familiarity with system or UI application development on Unix, Windows, or macOS (using Cocoa, GNOME, Win32 API, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of modern hardware-accelerated APIs, such as Metal, Vulkan, OpenGL, or D3D.
- The ability to optimize and refactor code.
- A responsible, independent, and disciplined approach to work.
