Responsibilities
- Process information and disclosure requests from individuals, agencies, and legal representatives in compliance with legislation and timelines.
- Utilize redaction software and provide summaries as directed by Legal Counsel.
- Collect necessary documentation from requestors, including consents and proof of identity.
- Conduct record checks on agency and provincial databases.
- Facilitate communication between staff, disclosure clients, and external agencies.
- Maintain and update case notes and documentation in databases.
- Manage tracking systems for disclosure and access requests.
- Perform legal clerk duties, including serving and filing court documents and preparing court forms.
- Liaise with opposing parties, counsel, and the court.
Requirements
- Accredited College Diploma in Paralegal or Law Clerk, or a University degree in a related field.
- Two years of experience in a related field working with legal disclosures.
- Knowledge of privacy provisions of the CYFSA and child protection proceedings.
- Knowledge of Ontario privacy legislation and practice, including PHIPA.
- Ability to handle sensitive information while adhering to privacy and confidentiality policies.
- Superior attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of equity and systemic oppression.
- Proficiency with technology, including Adobe and Microsoft Suite.
- Experience with file management systems.
