About the Role
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supervising the facility's safety programs and initiatives, ensuring a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Regularly inspect facility operations to ensure safe job practices, proper utilization of protective equipment, and operational machine/process guards.
- Investigate and facilitate investigations of all accidents and near-miss occurrences, identify trends and causes, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
- Develop safety programs and incentives in collaboration with management.
- Conduct new hire training to ensure understanding of safety practices and policies.
- Provide training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment.
- Chair the Safety Committee.
- Ensure the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR, and that required safety and medical supplies are maintained.
- Conduct and certify all forklift training.
- Coordinate annual fire inspection tours and tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies.
- Monitor the facility's hearing conservation program.
- Coordinate work duties for employees on medical restrictions.
- Maintain appropriate communication with management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators.
- Maintain OSHA 300 log and other required reports.
- Prepare regular and special reports as required.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum High School Education.
- Minimum 0-2 years of experience in safety or woodworking operations.
- Bilingual: English/Spanish required (ability to speak, read, and write).
- Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR.
- Preferred working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
