About the Role

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supervising the facility's safety programs and initiatives, ensuring a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect facility operations to ensure safe job practices, proper utilization of protective equipment, and operational machine/process guards.
  • Investigate and facilitate investigations of all accidents and near-miss occurrences, identify trends and causes, and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
  • Develop safety programs and incentives in collaboration with management.
  • Conduct new hire training to ensure understanding of safety practices and policies.
  • Provide training to employees on the safe and appropriate operation of machinery and equipment.
  • Chair the Safety Committee.
  • Ensure the facility maintains the proper number of personnel trained in first aid and CPR, and that required safety and medical supplies are maintained.
  • Conduct and certify all forklift training.
  • Coordinate annual fire inspection tours and tours by other safety and health regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor the facility's hearing conservation program.
  • Coordinate work duties for employees on medical restrictions.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 log and other required reports.
  • Prepare regular and special reports as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Education.
  • Minimum 0-2 years of experience in safety or woodworking operations.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish required (ability to speak, read, and write).
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer and business-related software, including Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Preferred experience in First Aid and CPR.
  • Preferred working knowledge of OSHA and DOT regulations.
