About the Role

The Commercial HVAC Journeyman Technician is responsible for diagnosing, installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems and components in accordance with current codes and safety standards. This role troubleshoots HVAC issues and makes necessary repairs to ensure minimal downtime and high-quality customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, condensing units, rooftop units, boilers, air handlers and unit heaters, and all of the associated components of these systems.
• Diagnose, assemble, test, start-up and troubleshoot HVAC systems in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and regulations.
• Operate commercial HVAC equipment to identify and resolve malfunctions effectively.
• Review and interpret specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and execution sequence.
• Ensure all completed work meets current local, state, and national codes.
• Coordinate and prepare necessary tools, equipment, and materials in advance to meet project timelines.
• Schedule and sequence work efficiently to align with customer deadlines and project goals.
• Manage time, tools, and materials efficiently to support cost-effective job execution.
• Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to eliminate waste and increase productivity.
• Work cooperatively with other trades, departments, and teams to support overall project completion.
• Communicate project progress, delays, or exceptions clearly with team members and customers.
• Ensure a high standard of workmanship and service to encourage repeat business and positive referrals.
• Address customer concerns professionally and promptly to maintain strong working relationships.
• Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
• Observe habits and hazards of others and bring it to their attention.
• Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company and support the goal of achieving zero accidents.
• Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
• Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
• Perform significant physical manual labor, potentially involving working inside or outside and exposure to the elements.
• Travel to various construction sites, potentially exposing employee to outdoor elements, noise, and requiring the need to stand and walk.
• Kneel, crawl, bend, climb ladders, reach, and handle with fingers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Journeyman Certificate.
• Minimum 4 years previous HVAC Service experience.
• Willing to or currently is in Union.

Skills

• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to commercial HVAC trade.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
• Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of commercial system equipment and components.
• Positive safety attitude and personal integrity.
