About the Role
We are seeking a Purchasing Coordinator for our Scarborough location on a 6-month contract. As the department continues to grow, this role offers potential for future progression. Reporting to the Sr. Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Coordinator will support site buyers across multiple Atlantic locations.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with Buyers during every phase of purchasing process
- Prepares requisitions for required needs of the specific business
- Generate purchase orders to replenish approved products ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and excellent customer fill rates
- Maintain vendor files as they relate to cost, quantity, quality and specifications
- Support management of the quality and on time delivery expectations
- Work closely with company locations for product requirements and inventory control
- Investigate and follow up on any invoicing issues and/or shipping delays
- Ensures the execution of corrective action under his/her responsibilities
- Support company to best practices in purchasing
- Support for all Purchasing Actions (Reporting and validation)
Requirements
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
- 1+ years purchasing experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of business practice relating to the purchase, price, terms, shipment, taxes and payment for commodities and services
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
- Ability to work cooperatively with internal customers, vendors, and management
- Computer proficiency and good working knowledge of MS Office
- Must be able to multitask and work with tight timelines
- Candidates who are 18 years or older are required to complete a criminal and background check.
