About the Role
As a Store Department Manager (SDM) at REI Co-op, you will coach and motivate store sales teams, acting as a key member of the store management team. You will manage retail staff to achieve business and service goals, using your leadership style to deepen engagement and cultivate synergy through recognition and rewards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate responsibilities to the team.
- Handle training, coaching, recognition, and performance management.
- Direct the execution of core standards and overall visual direction.
- Drive sales through all channels by maximizing selling behaviors.
- Make business adaptations to increase sales and service.
- Communicate key company strategies and changes to teams.
- Recruit and develop diverse talent.
- Inspire a customer-centric culture by recognizing and rewarding the team.
- Develop top performers, evaluate performance, and provide coaching and feedback.
- Build teams through effective employee development, involvement, and communication.
Requirements
- 3+ years of successful retail management experience (preferred)
- Enjoys communicating and building relationships, both inside and outside the organization.
- Open to feedback and other viewpoints in the spirit of supporting the business.
- Uses business understanding, innovative thinking, and sound judgment to solve problems.
- Makes solid recommendations by combining information from various sources.
- Produces quality work by setting effective goals and establishing priorities.
