About the Role

The STARZ UX team is seeking a Product Designer to own the design of an ecosystem of internal tooling used by content operations teams. This design role is embedded in a cross-functional team, serving as the primary design voice working directly with product managers and front-end engineers to define, build, and continuously improve the tools that power STARZ content workflows. The ideal candidate has strong design instincts, can apply them independently, and proactively shares design thinking to promote design literacy. They are comfortable being the sole designer, balancing user experience with technical constraints and trade-offs. This role involves close collaboration with product managers on custom internal tools through wireframing, high-fidelity designs, prototyping, and usability testing, as well as contributing to the design system, principles, and rules. The team fosters a culture of continuous collaboration and constructive feedback to enhance design and product instincts, ultimately improving tools and UX for end users. Reporting to the Director of Product Management, this position is part of a low-ego, high-curiosity team that values collaboration, continuous learning, and growth, with dedicated resources for development and career progression.

Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the Content Supply Chain (CSC) design system, including component library, token files, design rules, and operational guidelines.
  • Make and advocate for design decisions on custom application builds, grounded in established design principles: predictability, clarity, context, and user agency.
  • Produce wireframes, high-fidelity designs, and prototypes to clearly communicate solutions to technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Plan and facilitate usability testing to validate design decisions before and after build.
  • Partner with product managers throughout discovery and definition, translating research findings and requirements into coherent, usable design solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to ensure design intent is preserved through implementation.
  • Maintain and evolve design documentation and guidelines to ensure the system remains accurate, accessible, and scalable.
  • Continuously advocate for rigorous UX design standards within complex, domain-specific tools.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in product design or UX design, with a significant portion focused on enterprise software, internal tools, or complex workflow applications.
  • Advanced Figma proficiency, including daily use for maintaining design libraries and documentation.
  • Experience owning a design system: building and maintaining component libraries, token files, and design guidelines used by a development team.
  • Strong rapid prototyping skills to quickly communicate interactions and concepts.
  • Demonstrated design judgment: ability to evaluate competing solutions and make principled decisions.
  • Deep fluency in information architecture and interaction design for data-dense, task-oriented interfaces.
  • Comfortable operating as the sole designer, rigorously validating thinking without constant peer design input.
  • Strong, well-earned opinions on design implementation, backed by research and best practices, with a willingness to expand those opinions.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate design decisions clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Portfolio required, showcasing process-driven case studies for complex, workflow-heavy products, including design system work.
  • Portfolio should demonstrate problem definition through implementation, not just finished screens.
