About the Role
EXP is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Engineer to join their Mechanical team within the MEP Buildings sector, focusing on Life Science & Healthcare projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare HVAC one-line diagrams
- Prepare/Review HVAC load and airflow calculations
- Edit mechanical specifications to reflect project requirements
- Develop equipment room sizes during SD and DD phases
- Size, select and schedule equipment
- Meet with vendors to determine specific equipment requirements for application
- Coordinate with other disciplines (mepfp, arch, struct, etc.)
- Respond to RFIs for the project, and accurately review submittals
- Solve installation problems during project construction
- Manage time effectively based on the required design process for the project
- Deliver appropriate design level documentation based on project scope
- Edit and develop scope of work narratives (SD narrative, basis of design, etc.)
- Perform at a ‘responsible charge’ level; meeting EXP’s design and quality levels
- Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours
- Write studies and reports for systems on projects
- Write sequences of operations for AHU’s, CHW and HW systems
Requirements
- Revit or CAD proficient with working in 3D models
- Basic knowledge of Mechanical, plumbing and energy codes
- Experience with time management and working in a team environment
- Experience designing in science and technology preferred
Skills
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as Constant Volume air systems, Variable air volume systems, hot and chilled water hydronic systems
- Basic understanding of psychometrics and be able to apply to every project
