About the Role

The General Manager is responsible for the overall management, promotion, and operation of the facility, including booking, finance, marketing, staffing, and production maintenance. This role provides leadership and direction to subordinate operating departments, manages staff, coordinates plans, and acts as a liaison with corporate staff, industry associates, governing agencies, communication media, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, compensate, and evaluate management, administrative, and supervisory staff.
  • Determine organizational structure and personnel staffing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain employee job descriptions, duties, responsibilities, and performance standards.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all facility activities and personnel.
  • Maintain and operate the facilities.
  • Evaluate existing policies and procedures and recommend improvements for efficiency and safety.
  • Oversee the development of the annual operating calendar, activities schedule, and operational hours.
  • Develop projections for attendance and revenue.
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor a detailed program budget.
  • Supervise cost accounting for assigned events.
  • Prepare and maintain required reports and records for the city and/or management firm.
  • Control day-to-day operations, ensuring coordination of plans, programs, and events.
  • Conduct post-event operational and financial review and analysis.
  • Ensure all production/operations comply with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Organize operational meetings with accounting and staff for training.
  • Handle customer service inquiries via phone, email, and website posts.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues within a 24-hour turnaround time.

Requirements

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) in a related field.
  • 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in overseeing a physical venue.
  • Experience with management, leadership, and conflict resolution.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing budgets.
  • Computer savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, detail-oriented person with an outgoing personality.
  • Knowledge of the music industry preferred.
