About the Role
We are seeking a Director to build and lead our credit risk function for lending to business banking customers. This role is pivotal in refining credit and pricing strategies, developing new lending products, and ensuring profitable lending portfolios. You will lead a team of credit analysts and managers, collaborating across departments to drive the success of Monzo's borrowing propositions.
Responsibilities
- Leading a team designing and implementing credit and pricing strategies for business lending products.
- Monitoring the performance of existing strategies and iterating to improve them.
- Leading initiatives to improve credit underwriting, boost growth, and manage portfolio risk.
- Supporting the design and roll-out of new products and customer journeys in collaboration with engineering, marketing, product, risk, and control teams.
- Providing leadership across our Business Banking and Borrowing Collectives.
- Serving as a member of the Borrowing Leadership Team to drive Monzo's overall borrowing strategy.
Requirements
- Strong domain expertise in providing lending products to small businesses.
- Track record of leading analytical credit teams.
- Deep understanding of business lending, including regulation and industry best practice.
- Passion for customers and understanding the role of credit strategies and policies in customer outcomes.
- Comfort balancing qualitative and quantitative data.
- Strong analytical and data capabilities, backed by technical coding skills.
- Ability to bring dynamic energy to the team and drive product improvements.
- Clear communication skills, able to articulate decision points for complex problems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team with diverse skill-sets and personality types.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving and changing company.
