About the Role
The Software Engineer oversees application development, modification, and maintenance within the Technology department. This role monitors system performance, ensures smooth operations, and develops solutions to technical challenges while maintaining ownership of processes.
Responsibilities
- Oversee development and installation of new hardware and software
- Install and configure systems and software
- Test installed software for malfunction detection
- Identify and resolve business systems issues
- Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing systems
- Measure effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems
- Develop and implement strategies to improve systems
- Monitor and test system performance
- Maintain full ownership of processes
- Ensure compliance with risk management programs, rules, regulations, and cybersecurity practices
- Identify opportunities for and support process improvements
- Apply disciplined change management practices
- Act as a procedural expert
- Lead the work of junior level associates
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
- Five years of experience
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Must be within a reasonable driving distance to Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC
Skills
- Python development using Django
- Tableau for reporting and dashboards
- Building scalable and maintainable backend systems and APIs
- Designing and developing high data throughput, performant, and secure full stack applications
- Kafka for event driven architectures
- RDBMS systems including Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL
- Schema design and query optimization
- Containerization using OpenShift or AWS
- CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions and Harness
- Application architecture and distributed system design
- Cloud native patterns and scalable deployment strategies
- Software design principles and enterprise integration patterns
- GitHub Copilot or similar AI assisted development tools
- System analysis
- Software testing techniques, code optimization and debugging
- Gherkin and Behave BDD Python framework
