About the Role

As the first permanent in-house legal hire, you will own the day-to-day commercial and operational legal workload while building the company's legal infrastructure from the ground up. This role requires a balance of execution and foundational building as the business scales toward Series B and expands into new geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end commercial contracts pipeline including NDAs, MSAs, order forms, and SOWs.
  • Develop a library of standard forms and DocuSign templates.
  • Build legal infrastructure including platform terms, KYC policies, M&A due diligence frameworks, anti-bribery policies, and export controls.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Sales teams on deal queries.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Compliance to embed legal rigor across business processes.
  • Manage board and company secretarial mechanics including resolutions, filings, and statutory registers.
  • Support M&A and transaction workstreams including due diligence and closing mechanics.
  • Systematize legal operations such as contract registers, matter tracking, and external counsel spend management.
  • Proactively identify and close legal gaps including whistleblowing frameworks, trademark registration, and insurance oversight.

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister (England & Wales).
  • 5–12 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Meaningful in-house experience in a fast-moving, high-volume environment.
  • Strong commercial contracts drafting skills.
  • Experience with M&A and transaction due diligence and closing mechanics.
  • Proven ability to build or rebuild legal infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage high-volume, varied workloads.
