About the Role
N26 is seeking a Manager Risk Controlling to enhance the risk controlling function at a technology-driven bank. This role involves establishing risk management and controlling tools, developing risk models, and implementing regulations. The position is key to assessing, controlling, and reporting N26's risks.
Responsibilities
- Drive the further development of N26 risk management to accommodate growth and risk leadership aspirations.
- Ensure the implementation and adherence to regulatory requirements for risk controlling (e.g. MaRisk, ICAAP guidelines, EBA guidelines, MaSan, SAG).
- Take ownership of running and improving the risk management and risk controlling of the N26 group (incl. recovery plan, Pillar 1 RWA calculation, risk appetite, risk policies and decision making frameworks, limit setting and monitoring, internal controls).
- Drive the performance and further development of the risk inventory according to new business areas and the incorporation of ESG risks.
- Lead capital planning initiatives and the derivation of relevant stress tests and their parameters.
- Leverage technology to simplify processes, automate risk controlling workflows, and increase operational efficiency.
- Further develop risk reporting at N26 group and continuously generate insights to support steering in accordance with the risk and business strategies.
Requirements
- Master's degree in business/economics, finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, financial risk controlling, or capital planning within the banking sector.
- Strong understanding of ICAAP frameworks with a focus on Pillar 1 and the normative perspective, stress testing, and regulatory requirements (e.g., MaRisk, CRR, EBA guidelines, MaSan, SAG).
- Proven experience in risk reporting and relevant risk methods (e.g., risk bearing capacity, risk inventory, capital planning, recovery plan).
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with an ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable insights.
- Technical affinity to help automate workflows and simplify risk controlling processes.
- Detail oriented and reliable with a professional attitude.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to effectively engage stakeholders.
- Proficiency in German is a strong advantage.
