About the Role

Join eBay's Core Technology (CT) team, responsible for the end-to-end eBay technology platform. This role within the Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) offers the opportunity to build innovative solutions to identify and mitigate information-security threats, creatively solve complex security problems in a heterogeneous environment, and lead the CSIRT team to be the best in the industry. Your skills will help defend and respond daily to protect eBay's critical information assets.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the CSIRT team in its day-to-day operations.
  • Cover during on-call rotations with shift leads.
  • Manage ticket queue/workload.
  • Respond to escalated events from security analysts to develop/execute security controls.
  • Develop defence/countermeasures to prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems.
  • Research attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and design countermeasures.
  • Provide information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems.
  • Perform HR investigations and legal holds in a forensically sound manner as it relates to information systems.
  • Consult with HR and legal subject matter experts to adhere to local country law.
  • Work shift work, weekends, and holidays.
  • Participate in our shift lead on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with incident response, getting people to do the right thing in the middle of an investigation.
  • Familiarity with offensive techniques, penetration testing, IOCs, and exploits at all layers of the stack.
  • Comfortable with a SEIM to gather and analyze logs to recreate incidents and hunt for threats.
  • Basic understanding of system forensics, including image acquisition techniques and memory forensics.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP Protocols (HTTP, DNS, FTP, DHCP, ARP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Wireshark/TCPDump.
  • Familiarity in scripting in at least one of the following: python, perl or a similar language.
  • Ability to perform risk analysis, understanding the practical associated risk of a vulnerability in a particular environment.
  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in incident detection and response, malware analysis, or digital forensics.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of specialized experience in one or more of the following areas: Security Assessment or Offensive Security, Application Security, Security Operations Centre/Security Incident Response, Cyber intelligence Analysis.
