About the Role

We are seeking Software Engineers to contribute to the development of tooling for Scenario Builder, an in-browser electricity grid modelling platform. The platform currently supports capacity expansion and dispatch modelling, with future plans to incorporate power flow modelling to become a comprehensive grid modelling solution. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams, lead open-sourcing initiatives, and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain open source and internal services and libraries.
Contribute to reliability, performance, and security through best practices in code quality, testing, and monitoring.
Develop self-service software and data products for internal and external stakeholders.
Automate tasks and leverage shared services by collaborating with software and modelling teams.
Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for rapid, reliable deployments.
Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical planning sessions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful features.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices, introducing new ideas and technologies.
Contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

3+ years of experience in software development.
Strong proficiency in Python.
Experience working with RESTful APIs, including building clients, integrating services, and understanding API design principles.
Understanding of SQL, database technologies (PostgreSQL, BigQuery), and data modelling principles.
Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, Git-based workflows, code review, and documentation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
