About the Role

We are seeking a creative and analytical Social Media Lead to grow the Capital One brand in the UK through its social media channels. This role is crucial for shaping external perception and will lead the development and execution of the UK social media strategy. You will create and amplify content, manage internal and external team touchpoints, and own long-term marketing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own the overarching strategy for Capital One’s social media presence in the UK, defining channel roles and content plans.
  • Ensure a cohesive narrative and tone of voice across all social media channels.
  • Collaborate with PR and paid media teams on integrated, multi-channel owned and earned marketing campaigns.
  • Own and champion the content creator strategy, identifying partners and ensuring compliant content creation.
  • Lead social media integration with the wider marketing agenda, including GEO and AI discoverability, with the performance marketing team.
  • Ensure compliance with International Brand Governance Standards by working with international partner teams.
  • Brief internal and external creative teams, leveraging their expertise on competitor activity and creative best practices.
  • Oversee the production of social media campaign materials, including visual assets and copy.
  • Report on KPIs, including campaign measurement and brand metrics.
  • Build connections between Brand and wider business teams to generate content.
  • Own projects end-to-end, seeking new opportunities to drive impact.

Requirements

  • Ability to be both creative and analytical, crafting campaigns grounded in insight and navigating data to articulate effectiveness.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present the value of social media engagingly.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills for collaborative work with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with external agencies as an extension of the team.
  • Curiosity to stay attuned to emerging trends and opportunities in social media.
  • Experience managing a busy workload with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience working with creative agencies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Resilience and a solution-focused mindset.
  • Tenacity to grow and develop quickly in the role.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development and implementation of an organic social media strategy, preferably in-house.
  • Experience of working in financial services or another regulated sector is preferred but not essential.
  • CIPR/CIM qualification is preferred but not essential.
