About the Role

EXL is seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst with strong insurance domain knowledge and a solid background in Power BI-led reporting and analytics delivery. This role acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications. The successful candidate will be based on-site in London, leading stakeholder discussions, defining requirements, supporting prioritization, and coordinating with offshore development teams to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of data and reporting solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood, documented, and delivered.
  • Run workshops, requirement discovery sessions, and working meetings with business users and SMEs.
  • Translate business needs into user stories, functional requirements, acceptance criteria, process flows, and solution documentation.
  • Support prioritization of requirements and help define delivery roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
  • Ensure strong communication and alignment across onshore stakeholders and offshore delivery teams.
  • Work closely with offshore developers, data engineers, and BI teams to clarify requirements and support solution design and delivery.
  • Serve as the onshore coordination point for delivery teams, helping to unblock issues, manage dependencies, and maintain momentum.
  • Review technical outputs against business requirements and support quality assurance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Track progress, manage requirement changes, and ensure traceability from requirement through to deployment.
  • Lead requirements definition for Power BI dashboards, MI reporting, and analytics solutions.
  • Support the design and validation of Power BI data models, dashboards, and reporting logic.
  • Review dashboards and reporting outputs to ensure they are aligned to business expectations and are fit for executive and operational use.
  • Support data analysis and requirement definition across insurance datasets, including underwriting, premium, claims, bordereaux, and performance reporting.
  • Ensure business definitions, metric logic, and reporting outputs are aligned with insurance operating needs.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify gaps in data, process, and reporting, and recommend practical improvements.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in Technical Business Analysis, or Data & Analytics delivery roles.
  • Proven experience working as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical/offshore delivery teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior business users and technical teams.
  • Strong experience in requirements gathering, documentation, solution design, user stories, and acceptance criteria definition.
  • Practical experience with Power BI, including dashboard requirements, KPI definition, reporting logic, and validation of delivered outputs.
  • Good understanding of data structures, reporting layers, and analytics delivery processes.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing, delivery-oriented environment.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders effectively.
  • Prior experience in the Insurance industry, ideally within Specialty, Commercial, London Market, or MGA environments.
  • Familiarity with bordereaux, underwriting data, claims data, and insurance reporting processes.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data interrogation, validation, and requirement support.
  • Experience working with offshore delivery models in a consulting or professional services environment.
  • Awareness of modern data platforms and cloud-based reporting environments.
  • A strong techno-functional Business Analyst rather than a pure developer or delivery lead.
  • Comfortable working with both business users and technical teams, and able to translate between the two effectively.
  • Confident in driving workshops, clarifying ambiguity, and turning loose asks into structured delivery requirements.
  • Strong enough in Power BI and data/reporting concepts to challenge outputs, validate logic, and guide solution direction.
  • Experienced in coordinating with offshore teams while maintaining strong day-to-day engagement with onshore stakeholders.
  • Must already be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
