About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Officer with 1–2 years of payroll experience to join our growing payroll team. This role offers comprehensive, hands-on training and mentorship, providing an excellent opportunity for a junior payroll professional to expand their skillset within a supportive corporate environment.
Responsibilities
- Support and process accurate, compliant end-to-end fortnightly payroll while maintaining data integrity across HRIS and payroll systems.
- Review time and attendance data, calculate overtime, and oversee the administration and calculation of commissions and variable allowances, ensuring correct Modern Award interpretations are applied.
- Complete PAYG, superannuation lodgements, and manual payroll adjustments in alignment with current ATO and statutory legislation.
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing timely, professional, and empathetic support to employees and external agencies.
- Assist in overseeing outsourced payroll operations for global regions.
- Assist the Payroll Lead in preparing documentation, pulling reports, and providing support for internal and external payroll audits.
- Participate in annual payroll year-end processing and support ongoing payroll projects.
- Prepare basic monthly and ad-hoc payroll reports for management and handle routine payroll administrative tasks.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in a hands-on payroll processing role within Australia.
- Solid foundational understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rules, PAYG, and Modern Awards.
- Proficient in MS Excel (competent with basic formulas, data sorting, and spreadsheets).
- Exceptional data entry accuracy and a sharp eye for identifying anomalies in high-volume earnings or attendance data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to resolve employee queries professionally and confidently.
- A proactive learner who takes initiative, maintains high confidentiality, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
- Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin (both written and verbal) is essential.
