About the Role

ConnectSydney, a joint venture of ServiceStream, Boral, and Johnson Controls, in partnership with Transport for NSW, manages the Harbour Zone, focusing on routine maintenance, enhancements, and projects for Sydney's transport infrastructure. We are seeking an Environmental Advisor to join our Environmental Management Team, supporting diverse projects and iconic structures.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare environmental assessment documentation to meet legislative and governmental requirements.
  • Provide environmental advice and support as part of business operations for a diverse range of projects.
  • Undertake site monitoring activities to validate environmental safeguards at project sites.
  • Work closely with business portfolios, ConnectSydney partners, and external stakeholders to identify environmental management best practice outcomes.
  • Prepare environmental assessment documentation to support the delivery of construction and maintenance works.
  • Provide environmental advice and support to various business portfolios.
  • Liaise with TfNSW Environmental staff, specialist consultants, and other government agencies regarding compliance and assessment documentation.
  • Develop environmental work method statements in conjunction with Project Engineers and Site Supervisors.
  • Assist in the development of Construction Environmental Management Plans.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring activities to facilitate environmental safeguards for construction and maintenance works.
  • Raise incidents and manage non-conformances where required.
  • Carry out incident investigations where required.
  • Actively participate in environmental risk management needs for various projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly environment reports.
  • Present environmental topics during toolbox talks and pre-work briefings.
  • Participate and assist in compliance audit activities.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, or Environmental Management.
  • Experience as an Environment Advisor or similar role, including an understanding of the civil construction industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in preparing and assessing environmental assessments.
  • Proven experience working with the Transport for New South Wales Environmental team (desirable).
  • An understanding of AS/NZS ISO14001 (desirable).
