About the Role

This is a brand-new leadership role to help shape the next chapter of JD Sports' journey in Australia and New Zealand. The Head of Retail – North will lead a significant portion of the ANZ retail network, partnering closely with the Director of Retail to drive commercial performance, develop high-performing leaders, and build a scalable retail operation ready for continued expansion. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where you'll influence strategy, shape culture, lead through growth, and make a tangible impact on one of the world's leading sports fashion retailers.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver all sales, profit, and KPI targets across the Northern store network
Drive performance using data, insight, and sharp commercial decision-making
Identify opportunities and act fast to maximise results
Lead, coach, and develop Area/Regional Managers
Build strong bench strength and succession for future growth
Create a high-performance culture where accountability and development go hand-in-hand
Elevate customer experience and drive conversion across every store
Ensure premium visual merchandising and brand standards
Bring campaigns, launches, and store environments to life
Ensure consistency across operations, compliance, and store execution
Lead new store openings, refits, and key retail initiatives
Continuously improve processes to unlock efficiency and performance
Work closely with Buying, VM, Planning, and People teams
Influence strategy and contribute to the broader ANZ retail direction
Be a key voice in shaping the future of the retail network

Requirements

Significant multi-site retail leadership experience
A proven track record of delivering commercial results
Strong leadership and people development capability
Experience leading through growth, change and transformation
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
A highly commercial mindset with strong analytical capability
Resilience, adaptability and a hands-on approach
The ability to think strategically while remaining close to execution
