About the Role
As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer on the Observability team, you will lead the design, development, and operation of large-scale, secure observability systems to ensure services remain online and performant. This role is crucial for supporting millions of customer devices and billions of daily global HTTP requests.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and operation of large-scale, secure observability systems.
- Design, deploy, and scale Prometheus architecture.
- Deploy and operate large, high-performance ElasticSearch clusters.
- Deploy and grow high-throughput data pipelines built on Kafka.
- Design and build an alerting system for engineering teams.
- Write libraries and APIs for self-service access to monitoring, logging, and observability systems.
- Use Terraform to deploy public and private cloud infrastructure.
- Be part of a production on-call rotation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating mid to large size distributed systems on VMs or bare metal machines running Linux.
- 2+ years of experience developing with languages like Ruby, Python, Go, Scala, or Bash.
- Experience solving difficult problems in large distributed systems with huge amounts of data.
- Experience working on a highly autonomous team that cares deeply about quality and customer experience.
- Ability to dive into unfamiliar code and systems to solve problems.
- Understanding the value of observability and ability to work with other teams to help them monitor their services.
- Strong experience in building out solutions based on Software engineering best practices.
