About the Role

Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) drives tangible, impactful, and financial results for Visa's clients. The VCA team within Japan provides consulting services and solutions to address unique client challenges in strategic growth, profitability, risk management, and digital strategy. Dedicated Team members enhance partnerships with key clients by supporting strategic planning and implementation of their most strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Drive initiative development to support client’s commercial (B2B) and acquiring business growth and innovation using Visa solutions and strategic consulting methodologies.
  • Set key questions, formulate hypotheses, conduct deep quantitative analyses, and synthesize strategic recommendations.
  • Support new commercial business strategy development and execution.
  • Design, develop, and enable new acquiring solutions, businesses, or customer journeys.
  • Sell-in Visa solutions and manage system PMO from requirements definition to implementation support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in both English and Japanese.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with client executives, general managers, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure high-quality project delivery by leveraging consulting and team management skills.
  • Orchestrate cross-functional teams of diverse subject matter experts.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members, supporting their professional growth.
  • Maintain high standards for project deliverables.
  • Continuously build knowledge, uncover new insights, and produce thought leadership materials.
  • Oversee project setup and administrative processes, including contracting, internal reporting, and compliance procedures.

Requirements

  • Breadth of professional experience and strong curiosity about the payments industry.
  • Client-focused with the ability to manage projects end-to-end.
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level proficiency in English.
  • 10+ years of high-performance experience in strategy consulting, project management, or payment business.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing teams, including performance management and coaching.
  • Proven track record managing complex, cross-functional, and cross-regional projects.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated intellectual rigor.
  • Strong team orientation with a collaborative, diplomatic, and adaptable style.
  • Effective in a matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring the highest quality and rigor in reports and data analysis.
  • Excellent presentation skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, adept at managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Flexible mindset with resilience, able to adjust plans and scope while effectively managing client expectations.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience developing business cases and demonstrating proven ROI.
  • Passion for analytics and its power to inform strategy and tactics.
  • Proven ability to generate actionable insights from data.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire team members toward high performance.
  • Experience in the payments, banking, or technology sectors is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the commercial payment and/or acquiring business is preferred.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, modeling, and scoring schemes is preferred.
