About the Role

The Cloud Security team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of production AI-powered security systems. This role involves leveraging large language models, agentic workflows, and multi-modal signal processing to enhance detection, investigation, and risk reduction across Microsoft’s cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate AI-powered software services for cloud security engineering.
  • Develop AI-enabled workflows to assist teams in analyzing information and making data-driven decisions.
  • Build scalable systems utilizing LLMs, RAG, embeddings, semantic search, and knowledge graphs.
  • Create evaluation and monitoring frameworks to assess AI system quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate AI advances into practical platform capabilities.
  • Incorporate responsible AI, privacy, and security compliance into system design and operations.
  • Ensure production readiness including architecture, API design, scalability, and observability.
  • Provide technical leadership through design documentation, code reviews, and architecture discussions.
  • Mentor engineers to promote operational excellence and high-quality implementation.
  • Use telemetry and partner feedback to continuously improve system reliability and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of technical engineering experience with languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
