About the Role

The San Francisco Friends School (SFFS) seeks substitute teachers who resonate with its mission of providing an exemplary education in a community dedicated to problem-solving, service, simplicity, social justice, and reflection. This role involves supporting students across K-8 grades and contributing to a diverse and inclusive community.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support instruction across various grade levels (K-4 or 5-8) as needed.
• Execute teacher's lesson plans and report any concerns or issues.
• Offer social-emotional learning support and manage student/classroom behavior.
• Assist with various duties and provide support for teachers and students.
• Accompany students and attend specialist classes as needed.
• Provide short-term coverage for Lead Teachers or Assistant Teachers.
• Collaborate with partner teacher and/or grade level team for instructional consistency.
• Be flexible and willing to adapt to student and school needs.
• Take initiative and show interest in Quaker educational pedagogy.
• Develop creative problem-solving skills and be an active community member.

Requirements

• Student- and learning-centered approach.
• High emotional intelligence (EQ).
• Familiarity with behavior management and conflict resolution for students K-8.
• Highly comfortable working with educational technology.
• Experience in a variety of teaching methods.
• Highly collaborative and creative.
• Excellent communicator.
• Flexible.

Salary/Compensations

• $200 daily rate for over 4.25 hours.
• $26.67 per hour for under 4 hours/day.
