About the Role
The Network Operations Engineers are responsible for the network and security infrastructure that supports Optiver’s trading and business operations across the Asia Pacific region. This includes office networks, data centre environments, and a complex international WAN. The role requires a good understanding of both technical network problems and the broader business context. The team focuses on collaborating to solve complex problems with simple solutions and continuously optimizing reliability, capacity, scalability, and latency.
Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end infrastructure deployments in Asia Pacific data centers, including network and security platforms.
- Drive research, innovation, and implementation of infrastructure capacity and reliability optimizations.
- Build, manage, and support complex international LAN/WAN & security environments using modern tooling in an IaC environment.
- Collaborate with developers, researchers, and hardware engineers on projects requiring a stable and scalable platform.
- Monitor the health and performance of network and infrastructure systems, investigating alerts and proactively identifying operational issues.
- Participate in incident response, working with internal teams and vendors to diagnose and resolve service-impacting problems.
Requirements
- 3-8 years of experience working as a network engineer in an operational environment.
- Experience managing network systems using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) methodology.
- Experience working in a multi-zone, multi-tier firewall architecture across APAC.
- Solid understanding of network transport and routing protocols such as TCP/UDP, OSPF, BGP, and Multicast.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Data Centre environments.
- Experience in monitoring and managing diverse international WAN networks.
- Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking, firewalls, and network security.
- Experience managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code approaches and tools such as Git, Terraform, or Ansible.
