About the Role
San Francisco University High School (UHS) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Game Operations Specialist to support home athletic contests throughout the 2026-2027 school year. This position plays an important role in ensuring events run smoothly by assisting with facility setup, scoreboard and video board operation, game presentation, and event support.
Responsibilities
- Set up and take down athletic equipment, field/court setups, signage, and facility spaces before and after contests.
- Operate scoreboards, game clocks, shot clocks, sound systems, and other game-day technology.
- Operate Daktronics video board systems and display graphics, videos, player introductions, and score updates during games.
- Assist Athletics staff with organizing and preparing game-day graphics, lineups, and other presentation materials.
- Assist with staff, official, and guest check-in.
- Provide event information and support to spectators.
- Help maintain a welcoming and professional game-day environment.
- Monitor spectator areas and event spaces to help ensure a safe, organized, and positive experience for all attendees.
- Follow sport-specific timing and scorekeeping procedures in accordance with high school athletic rules.
- Work with coaches, officials, athletics staff, and event personnel to ensure smooth event operations.
- Respond to operational needs and troubleshoot issues as they arise during events.
- Assist with other athletics event operations and game-day responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Strong interest in athletics, sports operations, event management, or live event production.
- Experience with scoreboards, AV equipment, video boards, or similar technology is preferred but not required.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and assisting with event setup and breakdown.
- Able to work effectively and respectfully with students, families, colleagues, officials, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of the start date.
- Consistent availability throughout the school year and commitment to a regular event schedule.
- Must attend all required preseason Game Operations staff training sessions.
- Must attend additional trainings, meetings, and special events throughout the school year as directed by the supervisor.
