About the Role

FirstCall Mechanical is seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Chiller Technician with a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills to join their fast-growing team. The role involves performing maintenance and repair on large tonnage chiller systems for commercial, industrial, and education customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of commercial systems including air-cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, and fan coil units.
  • Diagnose and repair machine and equipment defects, including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Inspect and test system components for proper operation, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems.
  • Assist in installing, retrofitting, and commissioning commercial chiller systems and related HVAC equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial Chiller and Refrigeration Equipment.
  • Perform electrical work, including on electrical components, timers, contactors, and relays.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site customer interface.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations to clients regarding maintenance schedules, energy efficiency, and system improvement.
  • Prepare and present detailed service reports to customers.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record.
  • Active EPA Certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial HVAC setting with Chillers.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Technical training in HVAC or Refrigeration.
  • Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the customer by checking in and out with them on jobs.
  • Able to explain problems and resolutions in a manner the customer can understand.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal numbers.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to help take lead over and teach helpers and tech I’s.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
