About the Role

CIBC Capital Markets provides integrated capital markets products, investment banking advisory services, corporate lending, and top-ranked research to corporate, government, institutional and retail clients globally. Our goal is to be the leading Capital Markets franchise in Canada and the lead relationship bank for key clients worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Create and interpret financial models, forecasts, and valuation techniques.
  • Analyze large datasets, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Understand credit, market, and operational risks and mitigate them effectively.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with financial statements, accounting principles, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of financial markets, instruments, and macroeconomic factors.
  • Ensure knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, Reuters, and financial modeling software.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate terms and close deals effectively.
  • Communicate complex financial concepts clearly to clients, investors, and internal teams.
  • Evaluate risks and opportunities to make informed decisions under pressure.
  • Assess situations, identify challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Align financial strategies with organizational goals and market conditions.
  • Adapt to evolving market conditions, technologies, and regulatory environments.
  • Uphold ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure accuracy in financial analysis, reporting, and compliance.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Capital Markets products.
  • CFA charter holder or working towards a similar designation.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as VBA and Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen interest in financial markets.
  • CSC and CPH must be completed immediately upon employment.
  • Derivative Fundamentals and Options License Course must be completed immediately upon employment.
  • Relevant sales experience with a proven record of accomplishment of results in OTC Interest Rate Derivatives.
  • Strong overall knowledge of Capital Markets with sufficient knowledge of the financial services industry / regulatory environment.
  • Familiarity with Fixed Income trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg TOMS).
  • Expert Excel user.
  • Solid development skills in C#, Python, SQL Server, VBA.
  • Ability to make frequent decisions in a fast-paced, open concept work environment.
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines and heavy workload.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage interactions across various functional groups.
  • Ability to draft comprehensive presentations using advanced frameworks in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
