About the Role

The Intake Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for individuals seeking mental health services, performing clinical screenings, assessing referral requests, and connecting clients to appropriate community resources while maintaining database accuracy and fostering agency relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inquiries via telephone, email, and in-person walk-ins.
  • Assess service needs and direct individuals to appropriate treatment or support options.
  • Provide information on service availability, eligibility, and wait times.
  • Build rapport with callers and explain CMHA program referral processes.
  • Screen referral forms for program suitability.
  • Attend team meetings to provide updates on referrals, admissions, and wait times.
  • Manage clinical records, consent forms, and database entries.
  • Communicate non-admission decisions to referral sources and provide alternative service suggestions.
  • Develop relationships with community agencies and facilitate outreach presentations.
  • Represent the agency at community fairs and events.
  • Maintain logs of service requests and complete administrative tasks like time sheets and expense reports.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Social Services or equivalent.
  • Experience in community mental health with knowledge of Greater Toronto Area resources.
  • Experience providing service to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience researching and connecting people to information.
  • Experience with clinical records databases.
  • Adherence to COVID-19 policy and proof of vaccination.
  • Completion of OCAN training.

Skills

  • Excellent assessment and communication skills.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency with client service databases.
  • Commitment to mental health equity and inclusion.

Salary/Compensations

  • $54,124 – $60,203
  • 4% in lieu of vacation
