About the Role

Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s biggest employer of full-time, permanent musicians, teaching in-school rock and pop band lessons to primary-age children. Join us as a band leader and your passion will inspire the next generation.

Responsibilities

  • Teach groups of primary-age children in a fun, inspiring rock and pop band format in up to 10 schools per week.
  • Give children their first opportunity to learn an instrument – teaching drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
  • Work independently as part of a remote team of band leaders with the support of central teams.
  • Be a rock and pop star role-model, empowering and supporting children to deliver live performances.
  • Help children develop self-belief, resilience and wellbeing through performing in a band.
  • Represent Rocksteady, building strong relationships with schools, teachers and parents.
  • Be prepared for highly active days and spend time on the road driving between schools.
  • Load and unload band equipment, set-up and pack away in each location.

Requirements

  • Competent on at least two of the following instruments: drums, guitar, bass, keyboard and vocals.
  • Enthusiasm to learn how to teach band lessons and complete training.
  • Resilience to work in a role that provides both great moments and challenges.
  • Confidence to be yourself at work and communicate well with children, teachers and parents.
  • Integrity to always promote the safety and well-being of children and young people.
  • Organised, independent worker with good time management and administration skills.
  • A UK/EU driving licence and your own transport.
  • Must disclose all unprotected unspent and spent cautions and convictions.
  • Must complete an enhanced DBS check with a children's barred list check if offered the position.

Salary/Compensations

  • £30,000 - £35,000 / year
  • £30,000 per annum with the potential to progress up to £35,000 per annum
  • OTE earnings for year 1: £31,500
