About the Role

Canon USA in Melville, NY is seeking a Data Scientist, a developing professional working towards full proficiency. This position collaborates across all Canon business units and departments, gathering, cleaning, and interpreting data from various sources using programming, math, statistical, and analytical skills. The role involves analyzing sales, customer, channel, and product data to develop business insights and predictive results that influence executive decisions, helping business units understand customer and market trends, forecasting, and improving internal processes. This role requires diverse skills, creative thinking, analytical work, coding, and a desire for continuous learning and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes complex marketing and consumer behavior problems utilizing internal (CRM, web, sales) and external (market, ad platforms) data sources.
  • Builds, evaluates, and deploys predictive models (e.g., attribution modeling, customer lifetime value, churn forecasting, and trend analysis) using Python and GCP (Vertex AI).
  • Constructs highly optimized queries and manages complex datasets utilizing BigQuery.
  • Cleanses, integrates, and automates pipelines for large, disparate marketing data streams.
  • Empowers cross-functional marketing teams by building dynamic, self-serve analytics dashboards in Tableau, translating complex models into actionable, daily strategic insights.
  • Guides the marketing division’s understanding, strategy, and adoption of Gemini and Gen AI.
  • Leverages Google Workspace Studio and NotebookLM to compile, synthesize, and centralize marketing intelligence and research.
  • Designs, configures, and showcases customized Gems (specialized AI bots) or other AI Solutions to help marketing teams scale repeatable tasks like copywriting, campaign analysis, and translation.
  • Evaluates and deploys AI Agents to optimize marketing operations.
  • Automates cross-app marketing workflows (linking Sheets, Gmail, Docs, and Calendar) using Google Apps Script to eliminate manual bottlenecks.
  • Gathers large, structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Cleanses, transforms, and preprocesses data for analysis.
  • Handles missing data, anomalies, and feature engineering.
  • Analyzes business data (sales, marketing, operations).
  • Forecasts trends and outcomes (e.g., churn, sales predictions).
  • Recommends actions based on model outputs.
  • Identifies trends, patterns, and anomalies.
  • Works with Python, R, SQL, and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Scikit-learn).
  • Uses big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop) when needed.
  • Presents complex findings in understandable formats.
  • Builds visualizations or dashboards to communicate insights.
  • Creates recurring reports and dashboards.
  • Builds dashboards using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Looker.
  • Conducts A/B testing.
  • Designs experiments to validate hypotheses.
  • Ensures consistency and reliability of data.
  • Validates reports and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, along with statistical and strong analytical skills and thorough knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience with data tools such as Python, SAS or SQL preferred.
  • Statistical and or quantitative background preferred.
  • Functional knowledge of analytical tools and report creation technologies preferred.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
