About the Role

The Corporate Development intern will contribute to strategic and operational efficiencies and changes across the firm, in addition to executing on acquisitions globally. The intern will be involved in multiple aspects of acquisitions, certain areas of operations, and will conduct various analyses and prepare presentations on corporate initiatives for the firm’s executives and senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Corporate Development team on a broad array of acquisition-related activities and other special projects.
  • Support origination efforts, including development of acquisition target searches and profiles.
  • Conduct preliminary evaluation of industry participants for categorization and prioritization within HL’s pipeline.
  • Track pipeline activities and maintain the team’s CRM database, utilizing Salesforce and Pitchbook.
  • Aid in post-acquisition performance tracking by analyzing precedent transactions and creating reports for management.
  • Develop and manage databases, processes, templates, and reports to drive efficiency and productivity for acquisitions and strategic projects.
  • Create precedent transaction databases, acquisition target lists, and presentation templates.

Requirements

  • Must be a junior or senior in a Bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.
  • Previous professional internship experience is preferred.
  • A desire to pursue a career in investment banking or finance is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of financial modeling and analysis commonly used in acquisition work.
  • General knowledge of relevant accounting principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient skills with Excel.
  • Understanding of PowerPoint and Word.
  • Strong work ethic and self-starter.
