About the Role

The Senior Electric Motor Technician will perform routine preventive maintenance, removals, replacements, and repairs of electric motors in various industrial settings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical maintenance, specifically with electric motors, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance (PMs) on electric motors, including visual inspections, vibration analysis, thermal imaging, and cleaning/lubrication.
• Remove and replace electric motors, ensuring proper installation and alignment.
• Repair electric motors, including bearing, seal, shaft, endbell, and housing replacement/repair.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose motor problems using testing equipment.
• Collaborate with other maintenance personnel for efficient operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Develop and implement predictive maintenance strategies.
• Provide training and guidance to junior technicians.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols.
• Use root cause analysis tools to identify solutions for recurring failures.
• Provide technical support during commissioning and start-up of new electric motor equipment.
• Understand interactions with other departments for maintenance scheduling.
• Identify business process improvement opportunities and provide solutions.
• Interpret schematics, diagrams, and instructions.
• Actively interact with stakeholders and departments on work planning and coordination.
• Mentor/train lower-level technicians.
• Develop and maintain SOPs.
• Decide on maintenance type and select replacement parts.
• Participate on cross-functional teams.
• Conduct and/or oversee routine inspections and investigations.
• Interpret complex data from equipment and processes.
• Apply knowledge of best practices and relevant codes.
• Adhere to and enforce safety rules and procedures.
• Support plant operation during off-hours as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as an electric motor technician or in a related field.
• Completion of a technical training program in electrical maintenance or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of electric motor theory, design, and application.
• Experience with motor control systems, including starters, drives, and controls.
• Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration analysis and thermal imaging.
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and with heavy equipment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment (PPE).
• Must have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, be able to reach overhead, and work in various positions.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., NFPA, OSHA).
• Experience with root cause analysis and failure mode effects analysis (FMEA).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote).
• Familiarity with enterprise CMMS software and Confluence.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
