About the Role
Equinix is seeking a passionate and driven engineering professional to work within critical infrastructure environments. This role involves full lifecycle engineering delivery, including planning, system design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization. You will lead smaller-scale projects, support engineering initiatives, and contribute to the development of engineering standards, policies, and best practices. Collaboration with design engineering, site engineering, construction, operations teams, vendors, and consultants is essential.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery and coordination of engineering projects and initiatives.
- Provide leadership to ensure projects meet or exceed expectations in terms of quality, safety, and timelines.
- Carry out complex maintenance and repairs across engineering systems.
- Develop scopes of work (SOWs) for maintenance, replacement, and construction activities.
- Apply Equinix processes and procedures to resolve non-routine or complex issues.
- Champion and uphold safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. LOTO, MSDS understanding).
- Identify power and cooling constraints alongside capacity and site engineering teams, helping shape practical solutions.
- Support the onboarding and development of new team members.
- Continue building expertise through hands-on experience, vendor training, and knowledge sharing.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in specific systems and support the development of others.
- Support effective contract administration, including the creation, review, and tracking of contracts, change orders, and cost forecasts.
- Mentor and support more junior engineers.
- Coordinate and guide internal teams and external partners (contractors, design teams, suppliers, etc.).
- Communicate effectively across functions, including contributing to SOP development and technical documentation.
- Engage with stakeholders across the business, including occasional senior-level communications.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure adherence through documentation reviews, commissioning activities, and site inspections.
- Take ownership of complex, cross-functional challenges.
- Proactively identify risks and recommend system-level improvements.
- Evaluate solutions and validate suitability for implementation.
- Maintain and deepen expert-level knowledge across key systems.
- Act as a go-to technical expert within the team.
- Share knowledge through internal sessions or external industry forums where appropriate.
Requirements
- Proven experience across mechanical system design, operations, maintenance, and project delivery – ideally within data centres or other mission-critical environments.
- We also welcome candidates from design consultancy or adjacent industries looking to bring their expertise into a new and evolving environment.
