About the Role
As an FX Artist at Untold Studios, you will create a broad range of physical and magical simulations and effects, ensuring they are believable and consistent with project aesthetics. You will build scalable, team-friendly FX setups, prototype ideas quickly, and analyze and solve problems. The studio is committed to supporting your ongoing development with a personal progression plan.
Responsibilities
- Produce a wide variety of effects in Houdini, including fluid, cloth, fur/hair, POP particle, and pyro simulations, alongside bullet simulation and constraint networks for destruction FX.
- Balance aesthetic quality with technical accuracy to interpret complex creative briefs and deliver outstanding effects.
- Shade, light, and render with Mantra or Arnold, supplying FX renders to compositing.
- Create setups and tools for personal and team use.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure high-quality shot delivery.
- Contribute to discussions regarding the Houdini FX pipeline and tools.
- Communicate thoughts and ideas clearly in a professional and positive manner.
- Manage time efficiently through multitasking and prioritizing tasks.
- Interpret direction and address constructive feedback to improve shots.
- Proactively develop and share ideas with peers and the team.
Requirements
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Thorough understanding of techniques and technologies related to FX simulation and procedural animation.
- Comfortable working as part of a team.
- Highly motivated and solutions-driven.
- Ability to prototype ideas quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Good understanding of Vector & Matrix manipulation.
